Through the synergy and collaboration of working in and with organizations, you see a broader and greater impact, as well as build community and friendships. Following are some organizations working to address climate change in the Pacific Northwest.
Citizens Climate Lobby: The purposes of Citizens Climate Lobby are to 1) create the political will for a stable climate and 2) to empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.
Sierra Club – Washington Chapter – Beyond Coal and Oil Campaign: Join a monthly Coal and Oil Taskforce meeting each third Thursday (check calendar for date, time and location).
350 Seattle: 350 Seattle is a grassroots organization passionate about climate and ecological justice. They began in May of 2013, and work at every level–including direct action, policy, and education. The fight for climate action is the fight for a living planet; nothing has ever been more important. Meetings are the first Wednesday of each month.
We seek to include climate related events and actions from any organizations, agencies or universities working to reduce global warming, its causes and its impacts. These organizations sponsor or facilitate climate events that you may wish to support. We check websites and calendars of these and many other groups each week for events focused on climate action for the Calendar post and email Updates. If you know of events or organizations with climate events please refer them to us! One Caveat: Since our focus is guided by the urgency of climate change and need for action to slow carbon emissions, there are many important social and environmental issues and events that aren’t included.
